Community Rowing of San Diego (CRSD) volunteers stand ready to assist in building and sustaining rowing programs in San Diego County, including youth, open, seniors, masters, adaptive, and para rowing.

Thanks in great part to the LA 84 Foundation, CRSD can even bring rowing to you, conducting classes indoors, using rowing machines (“ergometers”) that we can provide for your lessons or events.

Bringing the sport of rowing to high schools

With assistance from CRSD, Cathedral Catholic High School began its prep rowing program in 2012, quickly establishing itself as model for prep rowing programs in the County and placing two athletes on national teams in its first five years. In 2013 the Gompers Preparatory Academy began its inaugural varsity rowing season, followed by High Tech High, Chula Vista in 2014 and Sweetwater Union High in 2017. Active outreach efforts for Sweetwater Unified High Schools, and Bayfront Charter School are underway for 2018.

CRSD’s 5-stage growth model is:

  1. Outreach Visits to Middle and High Schools
  2.  Novice Rowing lessons and on-campus ERGOMETER  lessons.
  3. Summer Rowing Camps – with priority placement for South Bay youth
  4. Year-round Competitive Practices / Events.
  5. An ultimate CIF Crew Conference.
